The Australian Taxation Office will close for the festive season from midday Friday 22 December 2017 to 8.00am Tuesday 2 January 2018.
If you are planning on working during their office closure period; the ATO recommends that you check their system maintenance page beforehand. This page will be updated with all the details of upcoming maintenance that they have planned at the time of their closure, including any January maintenance.
The following system pages will be available to access but no updates will be made:

- Maintenance messages on the portal dashboards
- Key Updates on the portals.
The ATO‘s Technical help desk will be available from 7.00am to 6.00pm weekdays, excluding public holidays; and 10.00am to 4.00pm Saturdays to assist with technical log on, connection, firewall and Virtual Private Network (VPN) issues.
Lodgment
The ATO will hold returns and forms not processed before the annual closure until processing resumes in the New Year.
Lodgments made after 7 December may not issue until the New Year.
The ATO will issue their final Delayed tax returns over 30 days report for the year on 21 December 2017 and will recommence issuing these weekly reports from 16 January 2018.
